“… Anouar Brahem is an artist who, while profoundly imbued with his Arab heritage, is unequivocably modern, well anchored in his times and headed towards the future. He is furthermore, an artist unperturbed by the clash of cultures. He has always enjoyed initiating meetings with musicians of different horizons:
Jan Garbarek, Richard Galliano, Dave Holland and John Surman of course, but also Manu Di Bango, Manu Katche, Taralagati, Fareed Haque, Pierre Favre … , finding in each meeting the means of renewing himself while retaining his own identity.” (from A. Brahem’s website).

Ideas can come from any random conversation and an email exchange…
with Stefano, —cool dude & incredible photographer— led to him sending me pics of Italian car details, chromes & appliances.
I then tried to recreate that chrome effect to my convenience.

Proverbs & citations have always been an important part of my education, from older members of my family to sport coaches, they always illustrate a lesson/advice/warning with a nice phrase full of meaning…
I will in this post from time to time add my take by an image to a saying or famous phrase.

Mesrine, is maybe the most famous french gangster of the “TV” era, maybe not as powerful as some italian influenced mafioso from Marseille (south of France, close to the italian border) or Corsica (french Island with a strong cultural identity), he still managed because of his various tricks to be famous.

Frome time to time I am asked to illustrate from a photo, I find it a rewarding challenge because my drawing skills are mostly for informative sketching rather than fine art.
